What is a "student village"?
A dynamic group of young students, who, by choosing to live together in an established neighborhood, contribute actively to its social renewal and physical growth, make up the heart of the Student Village.
What's special about Ariel's Student Village?
The Ariel Student Village is located in the original neighborhood of the capital city of the Shomron. Approximately 40% of the neighborhood consists of immigrants from the former Soviet Union with a general low socio-economic status.
How does it work?
A group of 30 students, studying at Ariel University, will live in the neighborhood and will spearhead the process of growth and urban renewal. Nearly half of the participating students come from towns in Israel's periphery. Additionally, a quarter of the students involved are immigrants from the former Soviet Union, Ethiopia, the USA and South Africa. Each student will lead a volunteer project together with and for the residents and will receive scholarship for volunteer hours. The project is run in conjunction with the Bnei Akiva youth movement
